Is lung inflammation worse in e-cigarette users than smokers | COPD 2023 | October 11-12, 2023 | Paris France

 

A small study that compared the lungs of cigarette smokers with e-cigarette smokers found that e-cigarette smokers had more lung inflammation than those who smoked tobacco. The pilot study, published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, is the first to use PET imaging to compare smokers' lungs with vapers' lungs.

                  Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in the lungs and people with COPD are more likely to develop pneumonia. It is most serious for infants, young children and older people whose age is above 65, and people with weakened immune systems. Bacterial pneumonia, is the most common form, tends to be more serious than other types of pneumonia. The symptoms of bacterial pneumonia can develop gradually.
